Our Mission

The mission of Sandor Wiener School of Opportunity is to serve children who exhibit severe developmental delays and medical issues.  It is our purpose to provide them with individualized and intensive classroom learning experiences combined with a full complement of therapeutic interventions and environmental access to technology.  Our philosophy is threefold.  First, we recognize that students with developmental delays can benefit from a comprehensive approach that addresses medical conditions in collaboration with educational goals and learning.  Second, that the early opportunity to be in an environment conducive to communication provides early success, diminishes frustration and promotes cognitive development.  Third, that the opportunity to have an initial classroom experience with intensive specialized attention and technological support will result in a successful transition to: an inclusive classroom setting (or the least restrictive environment as appropriate for each child), high school, and the community.
